What do I do when a Soldier checks the disagree box on a counseling? | AskTOP.net – Leader Development for Army Professionals

What do I do when a Soldier checks the disagree box on a counseling?

What is the course of action when a soldier checks "Disagree with the information above" in the "Session Closing" box and does not write why? Also, is the "Plan of Action" box still valid and the written action enforceable?

The Mentor - A Comprehensive Guide to Army Counseling and Leadership

The Soldier has the option to check the disagree box. Although it is to their advantage to state why they disagree and present evidence supporting their position, they are under no requirement to write anything. The plan of action and counseling are still enforceable.

In this situation, I suggest writing the following text in the Leader Responsibilities box:

  • Soldier disagreed with the counseling and refused the opportunity to prepare a written statement.
  • Soldier was informed that his disagreement will not prevent the execution of the plan of action and the information discussed during this counseling session.
