Company Command: The Bottom Line - Army Leadership Guide

Can a Leader Make Their Own Barrack Standards?

Can a Leader Make Their Own Barrack Standards? I have a leader that adds additional standards to our barrack SOP. What Can I DO?

The Board Master - Army Promotion Board Study Guide

Leaders, can add to standards but their standards must be fair and reasonable and not designed to place unnecessary hardship on the Soldier.

Is this a battle you really want to fight?  If so put your ducks in a row. Consider the following:

  1. Do your homework
  2. Research the regulations and the barracks SOP
  3. Speak professionally, directly and factually to the leader
  4. If that does not work take it up the chain.
  5. Follow up:
    • Does the Leader change how the treat you?
    • If so you need to also consider how you will respond to this issue
