What is a derogatory information report?

I was told to submit a derogatory information report. What is it and why is it submitted?

Company Command: The Bottom Line - Army Leadership Guide

A derogatory information report is submitted to the unit S-2 (Intel) office to report substandard behavior that may effect a Soldier’s security clearance. These reports could be submitted for many offenses including but not limited to:

  • DUI
  • Article 15
  • inability to pay debts
  • excessive drinking
  • illegal use of drugs
  • personality issues
  • other activity a command believes makes the Soldier a potential security risk

Speak with your S-2 to get the specific parameters and requirements.
