Can a Soldier be required to take a PT test after an abortion?

Get Tabbed - How to Graduated Army Ranger School

This response is provided based on the information you shared and should not be used as the sole source for making a decision. You should seek guidance from the chain of command, IG, JAG or other certified agencies before making any decisions. How you chose to use this information is totally up to you and is your sole responsibility.

I could not find anything that reference an abortion in AR 40-501 or AR 350-1. However, AR 350-1 clearly states that a Soldier is exempt from pt and testing during the pregnancy and 180 days past pregnancy termination. Since you were pregnant, I see no reason why this rule would not apply to you.

You might want to consider the IG or JAG to get an opinion.

AR 350-1, Appendix F-5f page 194 states: Soldiers who are pregnant or who are recovering from a pregnancy are exempt from regular unit physical readiness training and testing for the duration of the pregnancy and 180 days past pregnancy termination.

HOPE THIS HELPS
Respectfully,
