Hello, I only have one blood relative that is my sister. She has a number of medical conditions and is scheduled for back to back heart surgeries. She has lived in El Paso, TX for 5 years where she has amazing doctors and case workes. My sister also has my two year old niece, where she raises her as a single parent. I applied for two Compassionate Reassignments and both got denied. I just came home from a year overseas and now I’m in Kansas. I strive to be the absolute best but the fact that I feel like I’ve gotten absolutely no compassion hurts tremendously. Any advice or suggestions? I just want to be there to support and love my sister and nice.

The only thing I could possible suggest is if you could prove your sister is dependent upon you for support “financial and otherwise” you could apply for her to become your dependent and she could come live with you with all the entitlements of a dependent.
Unfortunately I don’t believe that is the solution you are looking for. If you have tried twice for a compassionate have they explained in detail why it was turned down? The other option is to try and get the number to the Point of Contact at HRC (usually listed on their website) that is in charge of compassionate reassignments and see what type of advice they might have.
Be careful before you contact them directly as you might tick someone off in your chain of command. So you might want to let the chain of command know you plan to call ahead of time and if you will “get permission.”
