AR 220–45 Duty Rosters

Company Command: The Bottom Line - Army Leadership Guide

a. This regulation prescribes procedures for the maintenance of duty rosters at all levels of command and in all types of organizations, using DA Form 6 (Duty Roster).
b. Duty rosters are kept for recording the duty performed by each person in an organization in order to make an equitable determination of duty assignments. A separate roster generally will be maintained for each duty requiring the detail of individuals. All assignments to detail, except authorized special duty details, normally will be made in accordance with applicable rosters.
c. Commanders are authorized to establish methods and procedures which will best suit the needs of their organizations. However, those methods and procedures must comply with the spirit and
intent of this regulation.
d. This regulation applies to the Active Army and Army Reserve, and to the Army National Guard when in an inactive duty training, annual training, or mobilization status.

This just happened recently that cq roster and staff duty roster came out and only my platoon nco and soldiers are placed on the weekends and there is one nco who is not working in the orderly room saying that it is by DA6 and when he put the sequence number that is how it came out. is it really possible that only certain platoon people can put only on the weekend including 4 day at the end of this month.

is there other ways to work around the sequence number? because I believe the sequence number he is giving is not going by AR 220-45. because our da6 looks different than the FIGURE 1 on the reg.

is there any way we can talk to him? because he keep saying he is going by the regulation and he keep telling people that he is doing the right thing and orderly room has been doing the wrong thing.

    Thank you for your guidance.

Is it ethical or legal to only have a targeted group of NCO’s (retiring or in the MEB process) pulling staff duty for the entire brigade? The sop says that it is to cover for individuals currently serving in a valid MTOE position. I am serving in a valid MTOE position and have to pull this duty 3 times a month, I am also aware of other NOC’s that are pulling staff duty and still serving in valid MTOE positions. Doesn’t seem very ethical to me.

My unit refuses to use a da form 6/ ar 220-45 for duty rosters because they say its not used in Germany. However I’ve asked to see this in black and white and they have yet to do so? Is this even allowed? How should I go about this?

Based on the information you provided I could find no exception to policy for AR 220-45. The first page of the regulation contains the following information

Summary. This revision requires that all locally established methods and procedures for DA Form 6 (Duty Roster) comply with the intent of this regulation.

Supplementation. Supplementation of this regulation and establishment of command and local forms are prohibited without prior approval from Deputy Chief of Staff, G–1 (DAPE–MPA), 300 Army Pentagon, Washington, DC 20310–0300.
My understanding based on this information and my inability to find a Europe or Germany supplement the only way to deviate from the DA FORM 6, is with the Approval of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-1.

      THOUGHTS to CONSIDER
You can consider contacting the IG. You can do this in two ways.
      1. Anonymously via the phone. Explain the problem and do not disclose any information about the unit or your personal information.
      2. You can also meet with the IG face to face or via telephone and explain the issue and who you are and that you do not want any action taken you just want to know the facts concerning the use of the DA FORM 6 in Germany, specifically your command and if there is a Germany Supplement to the regulation.

If you decide to approach your unit leadership, I would suggest you do so in a professional, calm, unemotional, respectful manner and armed with the facts. Some leaders do not respond well to what they perceive as a challenge to their authority and that can have negative consequences for you. While this would not be professional and could potentially be a reprisal against you these things do happen.
I cannot tell you what to do or how to accomplish your intended goal I would suggest you arm yourself with the facts and a full understanding of the situation. Once you have done that you have to decide if it is worth approaching the chain of command.
