This is a Driver’s Training and Certification Standard Operating Procedure. It purpose is to standardize the vehicle operator’s training and licensing throughout the Company, define responsibilities for the design and conduct of the driver-training program, and define the procedures and resources required to conduct the driver-training program. The Company will conduct a Driver Training Course a minimum of once each quarter to maintain qualified drivers. The Driver Training Program will be designed, supervised and conducted by the company master driver. A master driver from each platoon (or staff sergeant) will assist the company master driver as needed. The training approach emphasizes a task, conditions and standards format, with hands-on training and prompt evaluative testing. Four actions must occur in order for the vehicle operator to become certified.
- Operators must be licensed through the Battalion Motor Pool.
- Attend Company taught Drivers Improvement Training.
- Pass the Division Drivers Improvement Test.
- Complete all mandatory training and be certified on the performance test for tactical and non-tactical vehicles administered by the Company Master Driver. The end state is a well trained, safety conscious driver who knows how to drive and can properly maintain his vehicle.
