The policies established in this regulation constitute a management system for the Joint Electronics Type Designation Automated System. The objectives of the management system are to ensure that the JETDAS is properly administered and controlled; serves as a viable tool for identification of electronic materiel and for use in configuration management of this materiel; provides identification of electronic materiel type similarities and significant differences; and is sufficiently flexible and broad in scope to be applicable to present and future electronic materiel.
