AR 40-25 Nutrition Standards and Education

The comprehensive guide to the Military Decision Making Process (MDMP)

This joint regulation establishes nutritional standards, termed “military dietary reference intakes”, for military feeding and establishes nutritional standards for operational rations. It covers responsibilities of the services’ Surgeons General and the services’ food service programs. It identifies the effects of environmental factors on energy and nutrient requirements and outlines nutrition education policy. The nutrition standards apply to the services’ hospital food service programs, the services’ food service programs, and the DOD Combat Feeding Program. Compliance with this regulation is required for all food service operations, whether provided by government sources or through contractor support. The nutrition education policy applies to the services’ medical, personnel and logistics communities.
