The main purpose of the class is to teach NCOER and covers the DA 2166-8 which provides evaluation information to ensure that sound personnel management decisions can be made and that an NCOs’ potential can be fully developed. The class also covers the NCO rating chains. Also covered is the support form which involves a communication process which is characterized by initial and follow-up face-to-face counseling between the rater and rated Soldier throughout the rating period. This process is used to achieve the purpose of the DA 2166-8. Also covered are the NCOER support form, NCOER bullet comments, explanations of bullets purposes, highlighted NCOER areas of confusion, sample bullets, codes and reasons for submission and non-rated codes.
