Can my 1SG make me take a PT test while on an active no sit-up, no run profile? I'm all about being fit but there comes a point in time where in order for you to be squared away you have to be well and uninjured. Sergeant Major, I am an AGR SFC. Upon arrival at my unit I was tagged with the position of First Sergeant. My question: During BN APFT's and weigh-ins, the scales we use to weigh Soldiers are floor scales purchased from Wal-Mart. Does any regulation list a standard for what type of scale is to be used? One of my Soldiers recently failed his second APFT 2 mile run. I counseled him on it accordingly and also stated in the counseling that I will revoke his smoking privileges if he fails a third time. Now, I have caught some complaints stating "I can't do that" but I've been standing my ground because I HAVE seen it done and firmly believe I have a just reason to do so. I am confident the CO will not object to my corrective action but I don't want to be wrong.
I have sifted through the Regs looking for some clarity but haven't been able to find anything specific.
Do I indeed have the authority to do this, or am I in the wrong? And if I am right can you reference me to the Reg that states I do have that authority?.. Read the Answer»
We just took our PT Test and all completed the test. One Soldier however, did not, participate in the weigh-in. The 1SG let him go without weighing in, and I do not agree because I know the regulation says we have to weigh-in before or after the PT Test. What can I do to stop this special treatment?..
