How many points can a Soldier can earn for correspondence courses?

Is there a max number of points a Soldier can earn for ACCP?

The Board Master - Army Promotion Board Study Guide

The maximum number of points is only restricted to the total points that can be potentially earned in the overall category.  Computation of promotion points is a simple mathematical computation.  For example, a Soldier completes three ACCP course consisting of 40 hours, 165 hours and 228 hours.  Add the total hours completed (40+165+228=433 hours), then divide by 5 (433/5=86.6), then drop any decimal points.  In this example the Soldier is awarded 86 promotion points.

I was just recently promoted to E-5, I am now working toward points for the E-6 board. What is the max amount of corrospondence course hours an E-5 can get to max out that portion of points on the PPW I am at 704 hours now.

      Scott,

Congratulations on your promotion! You are on the right path by working on those points for the next promotion NOW rather than later. Sergeants can obtain a total of 84 points under the Computer Based Training category of Military Education. Thus, you would only need 420 hours of correspondence courses. However, be advised that only full courses count towards points.

I was recently promoted to E-4 so I have been educating myself on the new points system. As of Jan 1, 2012, correspondence courses have been adjusted to 78 points max of your 260 military training points. A more in-depth review can be found here on this site: http://asktop.net/articles/new-military-education-points-for-promotions-effective-1-jan-2012/

    Hope this helps.

      SPC Novak,

Good job on doing your research! You are on step closer to becoming an NCO and I appreciate your effort in learning about the new system. You are absolutely correct with your statement! 78 points to SGT and 84 to SSG.

I have completed 570 individual modules. Is there a way to find out which full modules they are part of?

The only way I am aware of would be to individually look up the courses and see if the subcourse is listed.

The S-1 and my NCO’s are saying we are wrong I need to do only 60 points. I did over 550 I’m not sure the right number they give me 106 points. They are telling me to fix it is wrong.

I honestly do not know where their information is coming from. Perhaps you should download the HRC brief on the new promotions system, look at slide 17 which shows 260 points is the maximum one can receive for military education for promotion to SGT, then show it to them.

What are they telling you to fix? Based on your statement, I can’t identify anything that you can or needs to be fixed.

    Raymond,

You can do as many to max out the military education area on the PPW which is 260 points or 1,300 full courses of correspondence courses.
