This SOP establishes procedures for administering the Multi-National Corps-Iraq (MNC-I) Awards Program for units in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and applies to all personnel assigned, attached, or Operational Control to MNC-I. Awards Responsibility is to preserve the integrity of the Army Awards Program and to ensure meaningful recognition for truly deserving Soldiers, special care should be exercised so that military decorations for meritorious and valorous achievement or service are only submitted for those who truly distinguish themselves from among their comrades by exceptional performance in combat or in support of combat operations. To ensure maximum benefit from the MNC-I Awards Policy, it is the responsibility of the supervisory chain to ensure that outstanding performance and contributions are recognized during the member’s tour of duty.
